Vintage Mid-Century Silver-plated Oval Meat Platter featuring a traditional "well and tree" or "tree of life" gravy well, raised rim, and a footed base to elevate it off the table.

16".25 x 11.5" x 1.75"

The branch-like channels stamped into the center are designed to collect juices and grease running off carved meat like roast beef, turkey, or ham. The channels slope down into a deeper, round "well" reservoir at one end. This pools the juices together so they can be cleanly ladled out for making gravy or sauces.

Designed to fit a standard holiday turkey, large ham or roast beef while leaving enough surface room for carving. Platter is heavily tarnished.

Marking Stamp under platter confirms this item is made of electroplated silver over a base metal (typically copper or nickel-brass) rather than solid sterling silver. Stamp also specifies the length of the platter is 16 inches edge to edge. The platter was retailed or produced by Putnam, a line linked to historic American silver trade traditions. Pieces with this specific marking are regularly categorized alongside high-quality vintage American silverplate hotelware and commercial dining pieces.

This is a vintage item with imperfections, staining and heavy tarnish due to age.
